Colored Pencil Workshops

Hand-Lettered Recipe Workshop         
Use your favorite soup recipe as inspiration to create a very tasty work of art.  Once your recipe directions are lettered onto the 8 ½ x 11 paper, you’ll use our light boxes, calligraphy pens and colored pencils to showcase the recipe ingredients.  This personal work of art might even create a family legacy.

Drawing Workshops

Now I Can Draw and I Want to Continue Workshop         
For students who have completed “I Can’t Draw and I Want to Learn” or “Pen & Ink” and are interested in practicing their new skills in a four weeks hands-on workshop. Bring a subject to draw and accomplish a finished piece with personalized assistance from the instructor.
Pen & Ink Workshop         
Bring along several photographs or references from magazines in this relaxing class. After learning the special "strokes", you will complete a pen & ink piece suitable for framing. All levels welcome, beginners to advanced, and no drawing skills required.

Fantastic Beasts Needle-Felting Workshop
Needle-felt a creature from myth or imagination. Create a three dimensional pose-able figure or a puppet. Bring to life a Dragon, Minotaur, Fairy, Troll, Faun, Selkie or Pixie as some of the possibilities.

Needle-Felt a Labyrinth
Needle-Felt a Labyrinth Workshop
To diminish the stresses of our busy lives, come and relax as you create a low relief labyrinth on cloth by building up the walls with colorful wool. You can then fold it up to carry with you and pull out to run your finger through the meditative path as you de-stress during your busy day.
Wet Felting Textural Magic Workshop
Learn how to make surface textures such as spikes, ruffles and ridges to give your felted accessories interest, depth and a tactile surface embellishment. Creating pre-felts will add a whole new dimension to the possibilities of felting. The piece you make will be a wonderful neck-piece, cowl or collar.

Acrylics Boot Camp Workshop                                  
For both beginners and intermediate students, this workshop is a jump start in acrylic painting. Get the basics under your belt by practicing the foundations in this versatile media. You can apply these newly learned skills to other medium such as oil painting, watercolor, colored pencil, etc. And you’ll take home the new brushes and acrylic paints you used to continue at home!

​Alla Prima Oil Workshop                                  
Complete a painting on gessobord in one session. Use vibrant colors of oil paint with this fresh approach. No drawing necessary. Bring a smock or apron, a box to transport your wet (8x10) painting home, a small glass jar with a cap and a plastic grocery bag.

Atmospheric Landscape Oil Painting Workshop            
This amazing workshop will start with a work-along interaction with Will McCarthy as he paints from his easel. You’ll capture the essence and the emotion of a landscape during this weekend of painting. Most of your painting supplies (i.e., paint, turps, canvas and paper) are included in the class cost. You will receive a supply list before the workshop begins.

Chiaroscura Workshop            
Chiaroscura is the distribution of light and shade in a picture to show a strong contrast between values. Rembrandt was a master of this technique! In this two-day workshop you’ll practice oil painting in a classical and dramatic style. All levels of artists will benefit from this experience creating strong darks and lights.

Watch a demo by this National Award-winning artist who uses a stick with black ink on watercolor paper. Students will complete two paintings in this fun one-day workshop.

Rocks, Water & Clouds Workshop
Enjoy learning tips to create successful watercolors of the ocean. Detailed instruction of painting clouds onto damp paper, then dry-brushing rocks and finally using “frisket” to retain the whites in the splashy ocean waves.

Sharpen up your drawing and value skills by making an upside down painting with a limited palette. You will be guided step-by-step to complete a finished painting. This is an amazing process!

Pottery Workshops

Pottery Workshops
Learn techniques to craft wonderful pieces of pottery. Decorate with special  embossers or make impressions from nature. You'll return to glaze your pottery with beautiful celadon colors. Cost includes materials, firing and glazing fees.

Specialty Workshops

Paper Flower Centerpieces Workshop
Create beautiful and unique centerpieces out of handcrafted paper flowers. Students will learn to make hyacinths, roses and lilies out of colorful paper. Go home with a complete arrangement that will last all year!
Silk Scarf Workshop: Roses
Using natural dyes on a wet silk scarf, students will create a soft background of blues and greens. Once dry, a design of roses will be placed underneath and using special fabric paints you’ll make your rose bloom with color. No experience necessary. 
The Art of Book Folding Workshop
Learn a few different techniques for making hardcover books into pieces of art by folding the pages. Walk away with one finished book and information to create more on your own. Books will be provided.

Torn Paper Collage Workshop
Using Matisse’s Gold Fish Bowl as an inspiration, students will tear or cut pieces of bright color photos from magazines. You’ll have plenty of time in this two-day workshop to glue the colors onto a simple pattern, replicating your version of Matisse’s wonderful work of art. Some call this style “painting with paper!”
