Children's Drawing Classes

Drawing Fun (Grades K-1) ~ 7 weeks  CLASS FILLED   
Thursdays, January 19-March 2, 4:30-6:00 pm    
This skill building class is for all levels using projects chosen to teach contour line, texture, shading and more with pens, colored markers and pencils. This class may be taken multiple sessions as projects are not repeated and skills increase with practice.

Cartooning Critters (Grades 2-3) ~ 7 weeks     
Saturdays, January 21-March 4, 10:45 am-12:15 pm    
Learn to draw from animal toys and reference photos to gain understanding of how real animals “work” and then use simple shapes to create cartoon versions. There will be “Draw Along with Me” exercises with the instructor so that young students can follow step-by-step and bring understanding into creating their own original critters.

Drawing Fantasy Creatures (Grades 3-5) ~ 7 weeks 
Wednesdays, January 18-March 1, 6:15-7:45 pm    
Using pencil, pen and colored pencil, students will learn how to draw different textures, feathers, and scales with simple lines and artist tricks. Choosing from a variety of fantastical creatures such as dragons, unicorns, trolls and more, students will learn how to make their creatures look as believable as possible!

From Sketch to Finish (Grades 6-8) ~ 7 weeks (No class Feb. 1)  
Wednesdays, January 18-March 8, 6:15-7:45 pm    
Students will learn advanced drawing technique to develop contour, shading and proportion of still life objects first using graphite and ink, then working in color to create the finished piece.

Manga / Anime (Grades 6-12) ~ 7 weeks (No class Feb. 20)  CLASS FILLED
Mondays, January 23-March 13, 6:15-7:45 pm 
Work in black and white to create animé-style characters before you delve into color. You will develop confidence in figure drawing by working on your own project. Independent study is encouraged.

Children's Multi Media Classes
Storybook Art (Grades K-1) ~ 7 weeks  CLASS FILLED 
Saturdays, January 21-March 4, 9-10:30 am   
Children’s literature including Snowmen at Night, Bear Snores On, Unicorn Dreams and others will be read aloud each week to investigate hidden messages of kindness, sharing, friendship, gratitude, etc. Students will explore a variety of art materials, tools, and techniques to design fun artwork inspired by each book. Activities include guided drawings and 3D sculptures as the books come to life in Storybook Art!

Art Exploration (Grades 1-3) ~ 7 weeks (No class Feb. 1)  CLASS FILLED
Wednesdays, January 18-March 8, 4:30-6 pm     
New projects each week will focus on learning different art skills and introduction of a wide variety of materials such as watercolor, colored pencils, charcoal, pastels, collage and printmaking. The goal to build lifelong art skills.

Mini Mondays (Grades 3-6) ~ 7 weeks (No class Feb. 20)
Mondays, January 23-March 13, 4:30-6:00 pm 
Join us as we craft on a small scale from a variety of materials including polymer clay, toothpicks, beads, wool, and paper. We’ll look at things previously destined for the trash and ask, “What could THIS become?” These minis can be used in gaming, dollhouse or shadowbox scenes, or as jewelry-starters (charms, zipper pulls).

​Kid's Studio Art (Grades 4-6) ~ 7 weeks    
Wednesdays, January 18-March 1, 4:30-6:00 pm    
Students will work with high quality materials such as wool for needle felting, clay for sculpting and canvases for acrylic painting to create new art projects throughout the session. Imagination and creativity are the necessary ingredients to bring to studio art to create unique personal works of art.
