Drawing Trees Workshop
Capture the character of real tree and shrub branches through careful observation. Practice drawing both quickly (gesture) and slowly (contour line) to express the movement of the branches in space. Learn to see and use both positive and negative shapes to help you draw more accurately. Use values from white to gray to black to create an interesting expressive drawing. |

Alla Prima Oil Workshop
Alive brush strokes! Complete a painting of peaches in a bowl on gessobord in one session. Painting experience will enhance your experience. We use one brush, vibrant colors and energenic brush strokes to complete our lively painting. Bring an apron, roll of paper towels, box to transport your wet (8x10) painting home and a lunch. |
Asian Ink Painting Workshop
The artist will introduce a basic approach to the techniques of Asian Ink Painting* through demonstrations of Four Gentlemen and step-by-step instructions. These techniques and exercises will help the viewers learn Asian traditional aesthetics of simplicity as well as the essential expression of objects. *Asian Ink Painting: also known as Sumi Painting or Chinese Ink Painting, a type of painting that has evolved in China from centuries ago and has been executed in sumi ink with a soft, pointed brush on paper or silk.

Magical Floating Art Workshop
Have an adventure in pouring lovely pictures with acrylic paints. They will look complex, yet the technique is easy for all abilities and ages. Students will choose their favorite colors for two exciting pictures.

Natural Elements Painting Workshop
Each day begins with demonstrations and introductions to historic compositions, palettes, subjects, various forms of perspective including atmospheric effects, followed by your instructor working individually with each artist. Day 1 will focus on painting water, including illusions of translucence and reflections. Day 2 will focus on representation to abstraction techniques in landscapes. Natural Elements Workshop will help students learn how to distill and reconfigure landscape subjects, as well as create new designs from historic models. David will also discuss new and alternative tools and methods for applying and manipulating paints. Bring your choice of oil, watercolors or acrylics supplies to this workshop along with a bag lunch.
