This class will explore the many joys and challenges of painting with watercolor while practicing techniques and paint handling. Each session will include a short demo to get us warmed up and suggestions for paintings which may span more than one class. Students are encouraged to bring their own reference materials but may simply choose to work from the provided ideas. Any level of experience is welcome and encouraged. Weekly practice will include techniques such as wash, dry brush, wet on wet, wet on dry and why they might be used. Discussions of common problems and how to avoid or remedy them will also be covered. Focus will be primarily on landscapes and nature (but students are encouraged to work on anything which interests them). In addition, students will be learning about composition and color theory as they work with this magical medium. (Adults) (6 weeks) No class 9/23
