In this fun, follow-along class, kids will learn to draw their favorite cartoon characters step-by-step. Then, they’ll use their new skills to imagine and create their very own original cartoon characters. It’s a great way to build confidence, creativity and cartooning know-how. We’ll dive into the vaults of Cartoon History to see what we can learn from the legends, then practice the specialized art of “pantomime” comics – telling big stories through pure expression and action without a single word. From ancient Aesop’s fables to modern-day quirky events, you’ll be the creator, the writer, and the illustrator of your very own comic strips.

Previous students are welcome to attend and to continue with more advanced sewing projects. Instructor: Christine Jewell
