Cartooning
​Cartoon Your Favorite Characters (Grades K-2) ~ 5 weeks
Tuesdays, September 16-October 21, 4:30-6:00 pm (No class 9/23)
In this fun, follow-along class, kids will learn to draw their favorite cartoon characters step-by-step. Then, they’ll use their new skills to imagine and create their very own original cartoon characters. It’s a great way to build confidence, creativity and cartooning know-how. ​The Graphic Novel (Grades 3-6) ~ 5 weeks
Tuesdays, September 16-October 21, 6:15-7:45 pm (No class 9/23)
In this creative class, kids will explore age-appropriate graphic novels and learn what makes them so fun to read – and to create! We’ll write our own stories, then bring them to life with colorful covers, splash pages and comic-style artwork. Instructor: Megan Jeffery

Clay
​Clay Play (Grades 3-6) ~ 5 weeks
Wednesdays, September 17-October 15, 4:30-6:00 pm or 6:15-7:45 pm
​
In this hands-on class, kids will use air-dry clay to sculpt tiny characters, animals and fun food creations. They’ll learn basic sculpting techniques and how to work with a material that dries quickly into durable, play-ready miniatures. It’s a fun, creative way to turn imagination into something you can hold in your hand or decorate your room! Instructor: Megan Jeffery

Collage
​Fish or Bird Collage (Grades 4-8) ~ 1 day
Saturday, October 25, 1:00-3:00 pm 
​Using found objects and non-recyclable trash, students will create their own works of art.  Imagery templates will include fish and birds, though any subject may be created.  This workshop is about experiencing the fun of collage, while learning about how plastic and other trash impact the environment, especially sea life. Instructor: Sarah Schneiderman

Spark your child’s imagination with our Homeschool Artist Study class, where art history meets creativity. Students will discover famous artists and their unique styles through fun, age-appropriate activities and art-making. Each class encourages curiosity, expression, and a joyful connection to the world of art. The Fall 1 Session will include Cave Painting, Leonardo DaVinci, Claude Monet, Wassily Kandinsky and Henri Matisse. ​Instructors: Kelley Cooney (Ages 5-9) and Kristy Endriss (Ages 10-14)

Students will explore a new medium (ex. painting, printmaking, collage) through open-ended, process-based projects. With a focus on creativity over perfection, students will explore textures, colors and techniques while building confidence, improving fine motor skills and gaining an appreciation for the creative process. ​Instructor: Kelley Cooney

This class is an introduction to some of history’s greatest artists. The students will create their own masterpieces based on great works of art and hear a story about the artists who created them. Instructor: Kelley Cooney

Painting Techniques (Grades 4-6) ~ 5 weeks

Students will use a variety of water media, such as acrylic and watercolor paint, to create works of art based on foundational principles. Lessons will include color theory, blending, shading and texture as they paint a variety of landscapes and still-life pieces. All levels are welcome. Dress for a mess! Instructor: Kristy Endriss

Kids will craft their own spoon, bag, sock and other fun puppets, bringing characters to life with unique personalities. They’ll also build props and colorful backdrops to set the stage for original puppet shows. It’s perfect for young storytellers and artists to explore, create and perform. Instructor: Megan Jeffery

Sewing
​​Sew Easy (Grades 4-7) ~ 5 weeks
Wednesdays, September 17-October 15, 4:30-6:00 pm

Yes, kids can safely sew on a machine! Learn all about how a machine works and then get sewing with simple projects like a pin cushion and small bags. We’ll also learn hand stitching utilizing embroidery thread and felt to create cute animals like a teddy bear, dogs and cats. Embellish with fun buttons, sequins, bling and fancy stitches. Choice of projects will include small pillows, bags, stuffed animals and more. Previous students are welcome to attend and to continue with more advanced sewing projects. Instructor: Christine Jewell

Storybook Art

Each week we’ll read a Caldecott Honor of Medal picture book and explore its beautiful illustrations. Then, the kids will be led in creating their own artwork inspired by the story’s theme or the illustrator’s medium – bringing books to life through art. For the Fall 1 Session, three of the storybooks will be: Home in a Lunchbox by Cherry Mo, BIG by Vashti Harrison and Chooch Helped by Andrea L. Rogers. Instructor: Megan Jeffery
