Cartooning (Grades 2-3) ~ 7 weeks
Mondays, October 2-November 20, 4:30-6:00 pm (No class October 9) Design your own cartoon characters while learning about basic pencil drawing skills and inking techniques. Learn from the “Masters” of cartooning to explore comic strips and single-panel “gag” cartoons, “pantomime” strips, “splash pages” and more. Game-like exercises will help to get us into each new aspect of cartooning that will encourage our creative writing as well! Practicing control of drawing instruments and learning to illustrate on a 2-dimensional surface will build excitement, confidence and imagination. Then, adding colored pencil or watercolor, they will create realistic drawings of various subject matter. Homeschool Foundations of Art (Ages 7-11) ~ 7 weeks

Manga / Anime
Manga / Anime (Grades 6-12) ~ 7 weeks
Mondays, October 2-November 20, 6:15-7:45 pm (No class October 9) Participants will explore styles of Manga, Anime and other comic arts. Telling stories though characterization and words (written or audible for films) will be explored. Drawing will include working from life, photos or mannequins. Focus will be on proportion, expression, action and setting. Pencils, markers and paints can be used. Instructor: Robin McCahill Fee: $100 for Residents or $110 for Non-residents |
Multi-Media
Build a Cityscape (Grades 3-6) ~ 7 weeks
Saturdays, September 23-November 11, 10 am-12 pm (No class October 7) Students become “City planners” to design and create individual cities populated with apartments, shops, pets, and vehicles. Using boxes and tubes, kids will cut, glue, paint and craft using wood, clay, and fabric. Perfect for those students loving detailed world building! Draw & Paint Fantastic Creatures (Grades 3-6) ~ 7 weeks
Wednesdays, September 27-November 8, 6:15-7:45 pm Fantastic Creatures have always been part of our history and lore. Learn about mythology and creatures or create your own. Let them tell their story as you draw with textiles of fur, scales and patterns. Add color with markers, watercolors and acrylics. Art is magical. Printing Techniques (Grades 4-6) ~ 6 weeks
Sundays, September 24-November 5, 1-3 pm (No class October 8) Students will explore various techniques using unusual supplies such as kitchen utensils, toys, vegetables and shaving cream. They will make their own printing plates and carve their own stamps. A handmade print portfolio of all classwork will be created. Studio Art: Draw, Paint, Sculpt (Grades 4-6) ~ 7 weeks
Wednesdays, September 27-November 8, 4:30-6 pm This class encourages you to use your imagination as you explore different mediums. How will you depict a 3-dimensional object, person or animal on a flat 2-dimensional surface? Explore modeling foam, clay and plaster craft to bring your idea into a 3-dimensional form. Painting
Teen Painting (Grades 6-9) ~ 4 weeks
Saturdays, October 14-November 4, 10:30 am-12 pm Using acrylic paint on canvas, students will learn foundational painting skills such as color/design, blending, creating texture and more! No experience necessary! Instructor: Kristy Endriss Fee: $65 for Residents or $70 for Non-residents |
Sewing
Sew Easy (Grades 3-6) ~ 7 weeks
Wednesdays, September 27-November 8, 4:30-6 pm Yes, kids can safely sew on a machine! Learn all about how a machine works and then get sewing with simple projects like a pin cushion and small bags. We’ll also learn hand stitching utilizing embroidery thread and felt to create cute animals like a teddy bear, dogs and cats. Embellish with fun buttons, sequins, bling, fancy stitches, and more. Choice of projects will include small pillows, bags, stuffed animals and more. You’ll be speeding along in no time! All supply fees included in cost of class. NOTE: Bring your machine if you have one, machines will also be available to use. Your machine needs to be working, the instructor can help with basic set-up. Storybook Art
Storybook Art (Grades K-1) ~ 4 weeks
Saturdays, October 14-November 4, 9-10 am Children’s literature will be read aloud each week to investigate hidden messages of kindness, sharing, friendship, gratitude, etc. Students will explore a variety of art materials, tools, and techniques to design fun artwork inspired by each book.
