Painting Workshop
Sunflower Paint Along (Grades 3-6) ~ 1 day
Friday, September 13, 6:15-8:15 pm Using acrylic paint on canvas, students will learn foundational painting skills such as color/design, blending, creating texture and more. Sketching Workshop
Slice of Pizza Sketching (Grades 3-6) ~ 1 day
Friday, October 25, 6:15-8:15 pm Draw and color your provided Pop’s Pizza dinner, including a drink, in this fun food sketching workshop! Give your children a complete art adventure and their favorite dinner at the same time. Enjoy a night on the town or take your own workshop at Artsplace. Your child will sketch the pizza and drink using markers and flair pens while learning about shape and color. We’ll end the adventure with a short Bob Ross video. Drawing Skills
Skills taught in this class are essential for students to clearly and easily achieve an ability to draw realistically. Students will learn and understand contour lines, flat color, overlapping, and mirror image using Flair pens and markers. Repeating Drawing Skills classes in future sessions will usually include different drawing subjects and can be repeated numerous times to create a firm base. Note: No class 10/12

Anime
Anime (Grades 6-9) ~ 5 weeks
Mondays, September 16-October 28, 4:30-6:00 pm (Note: No class 10/14 and 10/21) Drawing will include working from life, photos or mannequins. Focus will be on proportion, expression, action and setting. Pencils, markers and paints can be used. Watching sections of animated films and “freeze framing” to either draw or discuss perspective, action, background, shadow and light enhances observation skills and helps with drawing ideas. Discover inking and printing techniques, along with introduction of other medias, to increase confidence, strength, and skills. Sewing
Sew by Hand (Grades 1-3) ~ 5 weeks
Tuesdays, September 17-October 15, 4:30-6 pm Bunnies, bears, and birds, oh, my! Create your own menagerie of stuffed animals sewn by hand with felt. Learn how to design and sew embroidery stitches, adding embellishments like buttons, beans and bling. Then sew together colorful animals and fantastical creatures. Sew Easy (Grades 4-6) ~ 5 weeks
Wednesdays, September 18-October 16, 4:30-6 pm Yes, kids can safely sew on a machine! Kids will learn all about how a machine works, threading, operating, and troubleshooting. Begin machine sewing by tracing simple lines on thick fabric, learning how to sew forward and backwards. We’ll also learn hand stitching utilizing embroidery thread and soft felt to create cute animals like a teddy bear, dogs and cats. Embellish with fun buttons, sequins, fancy stitches and bling! Projects will include pin cushions, small pillows, LOTS of stuffed animals, bags and more. You’ll be speeding along in no time! Caldecott Award-winning children’s literature will be read aloud each week. Classics that explore how the world works and a child’s place in it will inspire that week’s artwork. These books will include The Little House, Frederick, Frog and Toad are Friends, and others. Students will gain experience and build confidence by using a variety of tools and techniques. Activities will include step-by-step drawings and multimedia crafting. Note: No class 10/12
