In this fun, follow-along class, kids will learn to draw their favorite cartoon characters step-by-step. Then, they’ll use their new skills to imagine and create their very own original cartoon characters. It’s a great way to build confidence, creativity and cartooning know-how. They’ll learn basic sculpting techniques and how to work with a material that dries quickly into durable, play-ready miniatures. Needle Felt a Bunny (Grades 3-6) ~ 1 day
Sunday, March 22, 10:00 am-12:00 pm Create a fluffy rabbit and give him a bunch of eggs to spread spring joy…all with soft colorful wool and a special barbed needle. Enjoyable and fun, you’ll leave with a framed piece of remarkable art. This workshop is a perfect introduction to the art of needle felting. Paint Along: Spring Flowers (Grades 4-8) ~ 1 day

Yes, kids can safely sew on a machine! Learn all about how a machine works and then get sewing with simple projects like a pin cushion and small bags. We’ll also learn hand stitching utilizing embroidery thread and felt to create cute animals like a teddy bear, dogs and cats. Embellish with fun buttons, sequins, bling and fancy stitches. Choice of projects will include small pillows, bags, stuffed animals and more. Previous students are welcome to attend and to continue with more advanced sewing projects. Instructor: Christine Jewell

Then, the kids will be led in creating their own artwork inspired by the story’s theme or the illustrator’s medium – bringing books to life through art. For this session, three of the storybooks will be: Have You Seen My Duckling by Nancy Tafuri, Berry Song by Michaela Goade and Mr. Rabbit and the Lovely Present by Charlotte Zolotow. Instructor: Megan Jeffery
