​Cartoon Your Favorite Character! (Grades K-2) ~ 5 weeks
Tuesdays, May 5-June 3, 4:30-6:00 pm

Saturdays, May 2-June 6, 9:00-10:30 am (No Class 5/23)
In this fun, follow-along class, kids will learn to draw their favorite cartoon characters step-by-step. Then, they’ll use their new skills to imagine and create their very own original cartoon characters. It’s a great way to build confidence, creativity and cartooning know-how. ​Cartooning: Characters & Comics (Grades 3-6) ~ 5 weeks
Saturdays, May 5-June 6, 4:30-6:00 pm
Master the art of visual storytelling as we transform funny animal stories and Weird-but-True news into our own original comic strips! We’ll dive into the vaults of Cartoon History to see what we can learn from the legends, then practice the specialized art of “pantomime” comics – telling big stories through pure expression and action without a single word. From ancient Aesop’s fables to modern-day quirky events, you”ll be the creator, the writer, and the illustrator of your very own comic strips.

​Graphic Novel Studio (Grades 3-6) ~ 5 weeks
Tuesdays, May 5-June 2, 6:15-7:45 pm 

In this creative class, kids will explore age-appropriate graphic novels and learn what makes them so fun to read – and to create! We’ll write our own stories, then bring them to life with colorful covers, splash pages and comic-style artwork. Instructor: Megan Jeffery

​Clay Play (Grades 2-4) or (Grades 3-6) ~ 5 weeks

​In this hands-on class, kids will use air-dry clay to sculpt tiny characters, animals and fun food creations. They’ll learn basic sculpting techniques and how to work with a material that dries quickly into durable, play-ready miniatures. It’s a fun, creative way to turn imagination into something you can hold in your hand or decorate your room! Instructor: Megan Jeffery

​Drawing Fun & Games: Junior Games 
​Mondays, May 4-June 8 , 4:30-6:00 pm (Grades 1-3) (No Class 5/25)
Transform your drawings into an interactive adventure using dice-rolls, speed sketching challenges and secret pictogram codes! Junior artists will master symmetry and fine motor skills through “mirror-drawing” and “squiggle-bots”. It’s the ultimate high-energy workshop where we “beat the clock” to turn foundational art skills into a social, game-based masterpiece.

​Art Explorers (Grades K-2) ~ 5 weeks

Wednesdays, May 6-June 3, 4:30-6:00 pm 

Students will explore a new medium (ex. painting, printmaking, collage) through open-ended, process-based projects. With a focus on creativity over perfection, students will explore textures, colors and techniques while building confidence, improving fine motor skills and gaining an appreciation for the creative process. ​Instructor: Kelley Cooney

Painting
Paint Along: Springtime (Grades 4-8) ~ 1 day
Sunday, May 17, 1:00-3:00 pm 
​Using acrylic paint on canvas, students will learn foundational painting skills such as color/design, blending, creating texture and more. They’ll complete a finished painting in this fun workshop. No experience necessary! 
Fee: $25 for Residents or $30 for Non-Residents

Painting Techniques (Grades 4-6) ~ 5 weeks
Tuesdays, May 5-June 2, 4:30-6:00 pm 

Students will use a variety of water media, such as acrylic and watercolor paint, to create works of art based on foundational principles. Lessons will include color theory, blending, shading and texture as they paint a variety of landscapes and still-life pieces. All levels are welcome. Dress for a mess! Instructor: Kristy Endriss

Young Artists (Ages 3½-5) ~ 5 weeks

In this playful art class, children will explore a variety of art materials while expressing their creativity. Each week a storybook will spark inspiration and guide their art-making. ​​Sew Easy (Grades 4-7) ~ 5 weeks

Yes, kids can safely sew on a machine! Learn all about how a machine works and then get sewing with simple projects like a pin cushion and small bags. We’ll also learn hand stitching utilizing embroidery thread and felt to create cute animals like a teddy bear, dogs and cats. Embellish with fun buttons, sequins, bling and fancy stitches. Choice of projects will include small pillows, bags, stuffed animals and more. Previous students are welcome to attend and to continue with more advanced sewing projects. Instructor: Christine Jewell

Sew Much Fun  (Grades 4-7) ~ 5 days
Monday-Friday, July 20-24, 9:00 am-12:00 pm or 12:30-2:30 pm

Monday-Friday, August 3-7, 9:00 am-12:00 pm or 12:30-2:30 pm
Students will have lots of time to build their skills for sewing by hand and on the machine. Use colorful felt to sew animals and fun shapes decorated with buttons and stitches. Learn how to use and then design your own patterns. Students will have a choice of projects, from simple to more advanced, including cute handbags, pillows, hobby kit, stuffed animals such as a cat, dog, turtle, whale and more. This class is for beginners as well as previous students. (5 days)
Note: Students registering for both am and pm sessions may bring a lunch and stay for the full day.
Fee: $190 for Residents or $210 for Non-Residents
