In this fun, follow-along class, kids will learn to draw their favorite cartoon characters step-by-step. Then, they’ll use their new skills to imagine and create their very own original cartoon characters. It’s a great way to build confidence, creativity and cartooning know-how. Master the art of visual storytelling as we transform funny animal stories and Weird-but-True news into our own original comic strips! We’ll dive into the vaults of Cartoon History to see what we can learn from the legends, then practice the specialized art of “pantomime” comics – telling big stories through pure expression and action without a single word. From ancient Aesop’s fables to modern-day quirky events, you”ll be the creator, the writer, and the illustrator of your very own comic strips.

Sunday, May 17, 1:00-3:00 pm Using acrylic paint on canvas, students will learn foundational painting skills such as color/design, blending, creating texture and more. Choice of projects will include small pillows, bags, stuffed animals and more. Previous students are welcome to attend and to continue with more advanced sewing projects. Instructor: Christine Jewell
