Clothing Workshops

Goldfinches Silk Scarf Workshop         
Natural dyes are used on a wet silk scarf resulting in unique backgrounds. Patterns are placed under the scarf as a guide. Silk paints are used to complete the project. No experience necessary. Bring a bag lunch.

Painted Tulip Tee Shirt
Painted Tulip Tee Shirt Workshop         
Bring in a white or colorful plain tee shirt (washed and dried without fabric softener). Students will receive a pattern and transfer paper to create a template before using colorful fabric paints to finish a wearable work of art. No drawing necessary!

Drawing Workshops

Drawing Trees & More Workshop         
Capture the character of real tree and shrub branches through careful observation. Practice drawing both quickly (gesture) and slowly (contour line) to express the movement of the branches in space. Learn to see and use both positive and negative shapes to help you draw more accurately. Use values from white to gray to black to create an interesting expressive drawing. Bring a bag lunch.

Sketchbook 101 Workshop         
Developing a sketchbook habit is a great way to improve your drawing skills, develop ideas for new creations and a chance to just play! In our workshop, we’ll  cover the basics: review supplies, watch a quick demo on basic drawing techniques and then jump into a simple sample lesson with pencil, pen and watercolor. *Sketchbooks will be provided.

Welcome spring’s warmth by learning to felt colorful wool to create a soft rabbit, rooster, mouse or bird. 

Jewelry Workshop

Wired Hammered Earrings & Pendant Workshop
Learn the basics and experience forming techniques, hammering, sanding, filing and polishing. Complete a sterling silver pendant on a cord and a pair of hand formed copper earrings. No experience necessary.

Painting Workshop

Alla Prima Oil: Lilacs Workshop                                  
Fresh strokes of color! Alla Prima (or wet on wet) paintings are vibrant, lively and completed in one session. This is not a beginner painting class. Prior knowledge (in any painting medium) of brush work and color mixing is required. Bring an apron, a roll of paper towels, a box to transport your wet (8x10) painting home and a bag lunch.

Repurpose Your Watercolor Paintings Workshop                                  
All watercolorists have piles of studies and discarded experiments. In this workshop you will bring all of these in and repurpose them by tearing apart and reassembling with matte medium as new works. You can also paint back into them giving them new life. The finished works can become abstract landscapes or just pure abstractions.

You will enjoy learning tips to create a small watercolor of spring Irises in this workshop for all levels of students.

CIGART Workshop                                            
Enjoy a relaxing pastel work-along experience with master pastelist Mally DeSomma. Students will produce a 5” x 7” pastel of a gently smoking cigar as the subject. Real cigars are optional during the outside workshop (bring your own).

Stained Glass: Spring Flowers Workshop
In this workshop, students will learn the techniques of cutting, grinding, foiling and soldering their very own stained glass spring flower suncatcher. There will be several pattern designs available to choose from.
