Children's Class Descriptions at Artsplace in Cheshire
Children's Drawing Classes
All kindergarten and elementary-aged students are required to take beginner and intermediate drawing classes as a prerequisite to all other classes. Skills learned in these foundation classes are essential to the Artsplace program. Our children’s drawing curriculum is as follows:
Beginner Drawing
Includes contour line, flat color, texture, mirror image, negative space and volume drawing. Media are Flair pens and markers.
Intermediate I Drawing
Reinforces beginner concepts with more detailed projects. (Prerequisite: Beginner Drawing)
Intermediate II Drawing
Introduces shading and volume drawing. (Prerequisite: Intermediate I Drawing)
Advanced Drawing
Includes perspective and shading, and introduces different media. (Prerequisite: Intermediate II Drawing)

Work in black and white with pencil or pen & ink to create animé-style characters before you delve into color. Develop confidence in figure drawing by working on your own project. Independent study is encouraged.

Musical Theatre
This class is for beginning singers who have a love for Musical Theatre. We will focus on selections from Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals such as Sound of Music, Cinderella, The King and I and more. Program will culminate in a performance of selections from shows.
